Paleo Lifestyle

The paleo diet focuses on eating what humans ate during the Paleolithic period of evolution. The focus is on “hunter-and-gatherer” style food.

Why for me?

Although this diet can be beneficial for most people, I started this journey to help with my Hashimoto’s. As I talked about in Why Juicing , I have hypothyroidism caused from Hashimoto’s disease.

Hashimoto disease occurs when your body attacks the thyroid as if it were a virus. This leads to a decrease in thyroid function and hormone production.

Lots of research explains the paleo lifestyle is highly effective for Hashimoto’s disease. It eliminates foods that can trigger an autoimmune reaction such as:

  • grains

  • gluten

  • dairy

  • highly processed food

  • refined sugars

  • legumes

The paleo diet’s anti- inflammatory benefits can be gained by eating the following foods:

  • lean meat

  • fish

  • seafood

  • fruit

  • vegetables

  • nuts

  • seeds

I have seen many amazing results after being very strict on myself for over a month now. For anyone that knows me, knows ice cream, chips & condiments are my guilty pleasures. It was hard to think that I won’t be able to eat those anymore. However, I am realizing how my body feels & acts when I put certain foods in. That is starting to out weigh the bloated, sluggish feeling.

For me, it’s not about eliminating things I love, yet finding alternatives. Epic Chili Lime Pork Rinds & Primal Kitchen condiments are my go to’s!! There are a couple types of icecream out there I can experiment with, yet just haven’t found my favorite. Ill keep yall updated on that or drop in the comments if you know of some :)

I have lots of questions on a typical grocery list & meals for me throughout the day. So, here is one of my grocery lists. I’ll Keep you updated with my favorite paleo recipes.
